Hey everyone,
The Special Council elections have been pushed back a few weeks and will now take place on September 25th. This round, 4 seats are up for election. The newly elected members will officially begin their term in October (instead of September).
What is the Special Council?
The Horizen Special Council is a 7-member body that provides a safety net to the Horizen DAO. Their main responsibilities (as outlined in the governance documents) include:
-
Attending monthly briefings from the Horizen Foundation on updates and plans
-
Reviewing ZENIPs to ensure they are financially and technically feasible
-
Communicating with the Horizen community
-
Helping strengthen the DAO and guide its future growth
Next Steps
-
We’ll encourage community members to submit applications
-
Current members are welcome to run for re-election
For details, see Section 6 of the governance docs:

If you’re an active community member who wants to help guide Horizen’s future now’s your chance to step forward!
To apply: write a post on Discourse announcing your candidacy. This doesn’t need to be formal just guidelines to help people know who you are and why they should vote for you.
Here are some questions you might answer in your post:
-
How long have you been a community member?
-
What is your background?
-
What is your experience in life?
-
What is your experience in the cryptocurrency space?
-
What do you like about ZEN?
-
What do you think could be done better?
-
What would be your priorities as a council member?
Looking forward to strong participation and new voices for this next Special Council cohort!
