Announncing my candidature for the Horizen Special Council - Luisantoniocrag

Hi everyone,

I’ve been part of the Horizen community since 2018, but it was in 2020 when I really got involved as a Zen Evangelist. During that time, I focused on creating tutorials in both Spanish and English to bring Horizen closer to more people, and I also participated in several technical bounties, like setting up nodes and supernodes, and contributing to the Zendoo command documentation. That experience gave me the chance to learn not only the technical side, but also the value of a community that collaborates and builds together.

My journey in crypto started back in 2017, when I wanted to understand how Bitcoin and privacy-focused blockchains really worked. That curiosity led me to study C++ and other programming languages, and since then I haven’t stopped coding and learning. I’ve worked as a blockchain engineer and developer advocate in well-known projects, and I’ve taken part in many hackathons since 2018. What I enjoy the most about hackathons is not just the technical challenge, but the opportunity to find real-life problems and think about how blockchain can solve them.

In my professional life, I’ve had the chance to lead development teams made up of people with very different backgrounds and experiences. I strongly believe that anyone can learn and achieve what they want if they have the right time and resources. I also think the world needs more decentralized finance and a more open entrepreneurial ecosystem, and that’s something I want to keep pushing for within Horizen.

What first caught my attention about ZEN was its focus on privacy, but what I value the most today is the community. It has shown the ability to adapt and evolve, all the way to this new stage of migration to Base, where the focus will be on dApps and zkApps. That ability to transform is what keeps Horizen alive.

Of course, there’s always room for improvement. For me, the most urgent thing is to strengthen the incentives for more developers to build on Horizen. Being on Base opens the door to a solid and accessible ecosystem, and this is the perfect time to launch programs that support builders and entrepreneurs who want to innovate here.

If I join the council, my priorities will be to encourage this developer and entrepreneur ecosystem: supporting with grants, hackathons, and bounties, making it easier for new teams to join through documentation and mentorship, pushing zkApps as a key area of innovation, and building bridges between the community and projects so that adoption becomes real. I also want to help bring Horizen closer to international communities, especially the Spanish-speaking one, which has huge potential.

In short, I want to contribute my technical experience, my entrepreneurial vision, and my motivation to keep building together with all of you. Thanks for reading and for the opportunity to participate.
