Announcing my candidature for Horizen DAO Special Council - Trololino

Hello Horizen community members reading this

I am writing to formally announce my candidature for a position on the Horizen DAO Special Council. As an active member of the Horizen community since 2017, I am deeply committed to the growth and success of the Horizen ecosystem. Over the years, I have had the privilege of contributing to this vibrant community in various meaningful ways.

I have participated in testing numerous new features for Horizen, including smart contracts, NFTs, and other innovative tools. Recognizing the importance of user education, I have created many tutorials to guide users in leveraging the potential of Horizen’s smart contracts effectively. Additionally, I have collaborated with fellow members to edit and improve the Horizen Academy, enhancing the readability and visibility of its tutorials.

As an active participant in the community’s Discord, I have consistently proposed ideas for improvement, many of which have been accepted and implemented, underscoring my dedication to the platform’s evolution. My role as a Horizen Ambassador further allowed me to engage in numerous meetings, where I shared insights and contributed to discussions about events and strategies for Horizen’s growth.

In the past, I made the difficult decision to resign from my role as a Horizen Ambassador due to proposed changes that I believed were not in the best interests of Horizen holders. Ultimately, these changes were not accepted, validating the concerns I raised. This experience reaffirmed my commitment to prioritizing the community’s well-being and acting in the best interests of all Horizen stakeholders. I will continue to uphold this principle and remain attentive to the voices of community members, particularly through active engagement on Discord.

These experiences have not only deepened my understanding of Horizen’s mission but also strengthened my resolve to ensure its long-term success. If given the opportunity to serve on the Special Council, I will bring a wealth of experience, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for advancing the Horizen ecosystem.

Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to continue supporting Horizen in this new capacity and contributing to its future achievements.

Sincerely,
Trololino

AI is the future Andreas, and we should not run from it. I did use it to reformulate my candidature letter, but i wrote the main theses and points I wanted to make  I am not a native English speaker, so I am not so good at expressing myself as some of the native speakers.

Thank you for sharing your candidacy, Trololino

Could you also tell us a bit more about your background and any life experiences that shape how you approach projects like Horizen? We’d love to hear about your broader experience with cryptocurrency, what specifically draws you to ZEN, and whether there are aspects you believe could be improved. Finally, if elected to the Special Council, what would be your top priorities?

Thank you for asking the question rocket.
I hold a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and have professional experience in IT development, administration, support, and online sales. Prior to crypto I used to develop and own some browser based games, and that created some seed money for my crypto investment. My journey into the cryptocurrency space began in 2017, initially with investment into mining rigs focused on Zcash. However, I quickly switched my attention to Horizen (ZEN), selling my Zcash holdings for ZEN and continuing to mine it until the appearance of ASICs. At the time, I strongly opposed the introduction of ASICs due to their impact on decentralization, as they concentrated mining power in the hands of a few manufacturers which were always sold out. While my efforts to advocate against ASICs were unsuccessful, my commitment to Horizen remained.

Over the years, I have actively traded ZEN, engaged deeply with the community, and contributed to its growth. My involvement with Discord community was particularly active, especially with the introduction of EON. I created hundreds of memes about ZEN which I think were funny  . Additionally, I was inspired by the advent of smart contract capabilities on Horizen, which led me to produce numerous tutorials to guide users.

What consistently draws me to Horizen is the dedication and transparency of the team. In the early days, we had regular biweekly updates. Unlike other crypto, everything involving ZEN development was so transparent, and as a developer I loved these little updates.

As for aspects I would like to see improved, I would like to see advancements in privacy for smart contracts, expanded development of NFT markets, and the creation of a decentralized exchange on Horizen. Such an exchange would enable seamless and user-friendly trading of Horizen-based tokens and NFTs, fostering broader adoption and utility.

As for my top priority if elected for the Special Council, I would say increasing the value of ZEN for all the holders with more use cases and prioritise ZEN holders point of view in all future decision making. I would consult with holders on their stance when voting on decisions concerning Horizen development, and adding some of my new fresh ideas as proposals.
