Horizen DAO Special Council vote on Feb 15 - who wants to step up?

The Horizen special council is 7 people who provide a safety net to the Horizen DAO. The exact roles and responsibilities are detailed in the governance documents. The way I see it, the council does the following:

  1. Attend a monthly special council briefing from the Horizen Foundation on updates and plans
  2. Review ZENIP’s to make sure they are possible from a financial and technical standpoint. Recommend denial of ZENIP if not financially or techhnically feasible
  3. Communicate with the Horizen community
  4. Think about how to make Horizen a better community

The first Special Council election will be held on Feb 15, for four of the seven seats

The current Special Council is composed of web3 industry leaders who volunteered their time to assist the Horizen DAO to form and stabilize when it was created in 2022

Now it is time for elections!

I encourage everyone to voice their opinion. The first step, as far as I understand from reading the documents, is to have a ZENIP proposed to have an election for the 4 special council members in February.

I seem to remember the amount of ZEN necessary to propose a vote like this was reduced, but don’t remember what it is. Perhaps in this discussion we can get the process figured out and going

See section 6 of this page of the documents for details on the Special Council

I’m excited to see what candidates we get. Now’s the opportunity to step up and tangibly contribute to growing our ecosystem.

It seems like a few people have nominated me. I am humbled by the thought. I will need to have a more detailed read on what is required of members before formally accepting the nomination/nominating myself

I am looking forward to this and I think I can bring my experience into the mix. Always ready to support

Great! Glad to hear it!

Maybe think about what people would want to know about you, and why they should vote for you. You could write this up as a post on discourse announcing your candidacy.

Here are things I would like to know

How long have you been a community member?
What is your background?
What is your experience in life?
What is your experience in the cryptocurrency space?
What do you like about ZEN?
What do you think could be done better?
What would be your priorities?

There will be 750,000 ZEN in the Horizen DAO treasury on the day of the migration, and 2,250,000 more in the next 4 years. This ZEN has to last for the rest of ZEN’s existence, and has to be used to earn more ZEN through staking.

How do you think the Treasury should prioritize the spending of ZEN after the migration?

Should it be used to encourage developers to create and support applications? For users to use the applications? For grants programs?

Now’s the time to step up go beyond being an active community member and take on a bigger role. As Rob said , looking forward to see new candidates.

Got some clarification on the way voting works. Each person who wants to be a candidate should do a Discourse post announcing candidacy

Then there will be a separate vote for each candidate. If a quorum of votes is reached for that candidate, they will be on the special council.

If there are more candidates who reach a quorum level of voting than there are open seats, the candidates with the most votes will be on the board.

And for most votes, not sure if this is most positive votes, or most net positive votes. Will look that one up

Also, need to look in previous ZenIP to see how much ZEN needs to be owned or delegated to in order to qualify for proposing a vote

I would like to apply to this position. I used to be Horizen Ambassador but resigned after a disagreement on some of the proposed changes to the Horizen inflation, that at the end didnt even get implemented (which is good since I’ve always had best intentions for Horizen holders and its ecosystem). I’ve been following Horizen since 2017, have also done some work on changing content in Horizen academy. Many of my suggestions did end up getting implemented into the Horizen blockchain, and would do my best to have even better ones if I get accepted into this position.

Based on this ZENIP vote, the amount of ZEN needed by a person to propose their candidacy for a vote is 25,000 ZEN, either directly controlled by them, or delegated to them

This is just for being able to propose the vote. I would think that an important step in being a candidate is getting people to delegate to you so you can propose a vote

I would definitely like to be a part of this team. It would be very advantageous for Horizen to bring its new brand face to TikTok and increase its awareness globally. I hope I can be a part of it.

The account we used before is here but it would be much better to start with the new brand new account. TikTok - Make Your Day
