A Different Type of Candidate for Special Council

Announcing My Candidacy for the Horizen Foundation DAO Special Council

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the Horizen Foundation DAO Special Council. This is a pivotal moment for the ZEN blockchain, and I am eager to bring my passion, skills, and innovative ideas to help take our ecosystem to new heights.

About Me
My name is Sean Sullivan (aka skyisthelimit), a 44-year-old, full-time dad of three from Massachusetts, USA. I hold a degree in Mechanical Design and have spent over 17 years in the high-tech industry solving complex, multidisciplinary problems. My proven strengths include:

  • Resourcefulness: Quickly mastering and understanding new subjects and identifying the latest useful technology. (Bitcoin OS, BitVMX)
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Thinking outside the box to uncover unique opportunities and solutions.
  • Legal Acumen: Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing legal documents, which is invaluable for a foundation like ours.
Additionally, I bring a strong foundation in U.S. securities law, having passed the FINRA Security Industry Essentials exam and currently studying for the Series 65 financial advisor exam.

My Crypto Journey and Dedication to ZEN
My crypto journey began in December 2020, when I was introduced to Bitcoin. It wasn’t long before I discovered Horizen (ZEN), drawn to its unparalleled node network (then the largest in the industry with over 40,000 secure nodes and 4,000 supernodes) and its emphasis on private transactions—key to real-world adoption.

Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the ZEN ecosystem:

  • Running a secure node since 2020 and later running a super node.
  • Being active in Discord, interacting with the community in discussions and answering any questions I could that new users have.
  • Actively engaging with projects like Ascent Exchange, ZEN Space Agency NFTs, and EON badges.
However, I’ve also observed significant missed opportunities—such as the lack of adoption for Zendo and the EVM sidechain and its Dapps. I believe we must confront and address these challenges to achieve the success ZEN deserves.

My Vision for Horizen’s Future
To elevate ZEN, I propose focused execution, disciplined confidentiality, and user-centric innovation:

  1. Concentration on a Core Product: Identify one product that users love, allocate the necessary resources, and follow through. Success comes from focus and execution, not spreading efforts too thin or giving up on something too soon.
  2. Enhanced Confidentiality: I propose a closed Discourse forum for ZEN holders only and a new policy requiring Horizen Labs to refrain from publicly disclosing new products before development is complete. This approach preserves competitive advantages and avoids giving away first-mover opportunities.
  3. Treasury Diversification: I recommend allocating the treasury to a 40%-60% split between BTC and ZEN. During bull markets, increase BTC holdings to 60%; during bear markets, trade back to 40%. This strategy leverages market cycles to ensure financial sustainability.
  4. ZK Bitcoin Integration: I believe the timing is perfect to develop a secure trustless bitcoin bridge to unlock the value and bring it to EON. I believe product development should focus on this opportunity.

Innovative Contributions
My ability to propose creative, actionable solutions has already made an impact:

  • I was the first to suggest the idea of an airdrop for the ZKV token as an alternative to increasing ZEN’s max supply. This idea was later adopted, underscoring my ability to contribute fresh perspectives.

Why Vote for Me?
If you believe the status quo is insufficient, I’m your candidate for change. As someone outside the established Horizen corporate culture, I bring a fresh perspective and the determination to transform ZEN into a top-50 blockchain by creating products users love.

I humbly ask for your vote to join the DAO Special Council and help build the future of Horizen. Together, we can achieve a stronger, more innovative, and more successful ecosystem.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to any questions you may have for me.
