I think it will be natural if stories, pictures, and game entertainment are linked to web3. I think the Zepeto metaverse might be an example.
totally agree! i think that decentralizing social media is one of the most important potential use cases for Web3, and am surprised it hasn’t been done more effectively yet. I can’t say that this is something I’ve dove deeply into, so if anyone has some thoughts around why web3-based social media/networks haven’t taken off more yet, it’d be interesting to hear.
There are some different apps, but nothing seems to have pleased the masses for now.
If some of you are users of this kind of decentralized social media platform, pleas share your feedback
The main issue still lies in navigation and user-friendliness. I’ve used quite a few of them.
Signing in on web2 platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and the likes is very easy. Anyone can use them.
If web3 applications can reach that level, a lot of people would join in. However, many have complicated UI, with new users having to deal with creating a wallet address or paying fees to post on a blockchain. Some are relatively slow.
While we value free speech, some web3 platforms, especially social networks, need a bit of control.
If we can overcome this barrier, which we believe will happen in the near future, we’ll be in for an exciting journey over web2 platforms.
I’ll also offer that it’s not a great UI when you have to pay for every action you take on a social network, e.g. adding a tx fee for every like or RT. Fees need to be abstracted away, handled in batches somehow, all while controlling for spam and abuse.
